Whole-House Renovation in Guildford County, NC

windows in kitchenWe recently completed a whole-house renovation in Guilford County, NC. Originally, the home contained a non-functioning kitchen in the middle of a large open space, an old-fashioned stove, two walls covered in a stone facade, and vintage wallpaper, wood paneling, carpet, lighting, and fixtures throughout.

The first thing we did was remove all the wood paneling and flooring throughout the home, and the walls in the center of the great room that previously contained the kitchen. Once we removed the walls of the original kitchen, the extra large space needed definition. We added a dropzone coming in the front door and a half bathroom adjacent to that spot. On the other side of the hall, still within the open space, we added a pantry, laundry, and a small office/workspace.

We moved the laundry from the hallway so we could use that space to add to the primary bathroom. We completely demolished the existing primary bathroom and reconfigured the space to create a much larger functioning bathroom with a built-in tub, walk-in shower, and his/hers sinks. Last but not least, we installed solid maple hardwood shelving, new cabinets, and built-ins throughout the home, and updated all of the door handles/hinges/hardware. Notice the small detail of the two small bookshelves behind the microwave!
