We recently completed a deck and porch project which transformed an existing deck into a stunning outdoor living space. One of the biggest complaints about the original deck was that it was only accessible from inside the home. So, if you were in the backyard you had to go through the house to get to the deck and vice versa.  The project included creating a screened-in porch, adding stairs to lead down to the backyard, and adding electrical and AV upgrades to make it more suitable for entertaining. We recently completed a whole-house renovation in Guilford County, NC. Originally, the home contained a non-functioning kitchen in the middle of a large open space, an old-fashioned stove, two walls covered in a stone facade, and vintage wallpaper, wood paneling, carpet, lighting, and fixtures throughout.

The first thing we did was remove all the wood paneling and flooring throughout the home, and the walls in the center of the great room that previously contained the kitchen. Once we removed the walls of the original kitchen, the extra large space needed definition. We added a dropzone coming in the front door and a half bathroom adjacent to that spot. This was finished right before the holidays so the homeowners could entertain family in this amazing new space. A deck addition can be a great way to expand the living space of a home. A deck can provide additional entertaining space and can be customized in countless ways to meet the needs of the homeowner. We recently completed a 14’x20’ pressure-treated deck for some great clients in Walkertown, NC. The new deck is really solid, with joists on 12” on centers instead of 16” on centers, which allows for greater stability.

We recently completed a master bathroom renovation in Greensboro, NC which started out with a full gut to the studs of the original space. The homeowners wanted the updated bath to include handicap-accessible features for future use. These considerations can be a great investment because they will allow the homeowners to stay in the house as they age or develop health issues down the road. To that end, we installed grab bars throughout the shower and toilet area, as well as an adjustable shower wand, and a curbless entry to the shower. We also moved a window in the bathroom to allow space for a bigger shower and a 3’ door to give enough space for a wheelchair.
